I’d like the other leaders to post their information here too. It’s not just a webelo’s site. If you’d like Wordpress Training let me know. Shouldn’t take but a few minutes - maybe an hour - to learn all you need to know. Really.
Webelo 1’s will be finishing up any last minute requirements for Citizen and Readyman that the boys have not yet finished. We didn’t get done at the pack meeting all that we had planned, so we’ll finish it up during the den meeting.
Bring your books, uniforms, and be sure to memorize your Scout Oath. There’s a coin for a prize….and…I have something else up my sleeve!
Get ready for Readyman. Here is the link to the Readyman Worksheet. Please prepare for Readyman by talking with your parent/kids about the Courage Character Connection. We will be discussing various first aid scenarios at the den meetings.
UPDATED!
I am in East Texas with my mother this week, and will not make it to the den meeting tomorrow. She is in the very final stages of her battle with cancer and her husband cannot take care of her alone.
I need to rely on my Den Chief and Denner to keep activities flowing until Ms. Boyd can make it to the school. Eric, it’s your time to shine my friend! Please practice the flag ceremony too! Attached is the Den Meeting Worksheet for October 13.
For homework, the boys can work on the Emergency Preparedness Award. Mainly the Family Emergency Kit. I’d like to display this or a first aid kit at the pack meeting.
Emergency Preparedness Award - Webelos Scout Requirements
- Earn the Readyman activity badge from the community badge group.
- Build a family emergency kit, with an adult family member participating in the project. Attached is an Emergency Kit Checklist to help.
- With your parent or guardian’s help, complete one of the following that you have not already completed for this award as a Tiger Cub or Wolf or Bear Cub Scout:
- Take a first aid course conducted by your local American Red Cross chapter.
- Give a presentation to your den on preparing for emergencies.
- Organize a training program for your Webelos den on stranger awareness, Internet safety, or safety at home.
IF THEY HAVE NOT DONE SO, PLEASE ENCOURAGE THE BOYS TO FINISH THEIR CITIZEN. They will not be able to earn their Webelos patch without it.
Homework to do after Den Meeting:
- Do a Good Turn every day
- Practice 1st Aid on Mom and Dad
- Prepare your den training program for Emergency Preparedness. Contact den leader when ready.
We went to Worth Ranch over the weekend and had a wonderfully good time! Webelos were invited to camp with the big boys and got to play Capture the Flag in pitch blackness on the side of the ‘mountain’. Rain threatened but didn’t materialize, weather was mild, and the tents stayed hitched. Morning dawned with a huge breakfast, and lots of activities planned for the Cub Scouts arriving for the Mountain Man Saturday events - including BB’s, archery, box hockey, a firearms exhibit, a scary looking Indian, some cool old timer mountain men, hiking, water balloon sling shots and so much more. It was a great day for everyone involved.
