Perrin Pack 599 & Troop 142

Perrin Texas Cub Scout Pack 599 and Boy Scout Troop 142

It was a cold and blistery day out on the tarmac Saturday, and there was non-stop excitement during the race. The Pack 599 team wowed the crowd with a stunning and spectacular crash which destroyed half of this year’s car. In spite of it, the team rallied to come in third place in their group, and that’s really saying something. It really was a heart stopping crash!

Wished you all could have been there. Meet Team Turbulence! Logan (missing), Evan, Rhys, Cole, Aidan, Devon, Colton, and Ethan!

The pack meeting on November 24 will be from 6:30 - 7:30 at FBC Perrin.  Deputy Sheriff Darrell Self will be present to talk about crime prevention and there will be fun activities for all.  Bear parents are in charge of snacks.  Please contact Kay about what you will bring.  Also, all popcorn money is due at pack meeting.  Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend meeting.  Dens with at least one parent in attendance will receive special award.

Webelos need to bring their Badge books and Webelos books to the den meeting on Monday. We’re going to finish up any requirements left on Citizen, Readyman and Fitness. Be sure to finish up your PSA poster for the den meeting. If you’re not done, we can work on it during the den meeting and you can present it to the pack.

Caden is our Denner this month. His responsibilities include bringing an activity, joke, etc. to share with den each meeting. Bears are working on Achievement 7 this month, Law Enforcement is a Big Job. This will go along with our Pack Meeting on Nov. 24. Ach. 7c needs to be done at home. We are also working on Bobcat requirements. These have to be completed before anything else can be earned. Please do Child Protection Exercises with your son if you have not already.

In light of the recent cold snap, and typical West Texas winds, the camp out at Fort Richardson has been canceled for this weekend. Why? Because, as tough as we all are (or not) taking a kid out to camp for the first time in the cold could make him not want to do it again. Some parents may not appreciate it either.

This weekend was a family camp out. We accommodate to the whole family - mom’s, dad’s and little brothers and sisters. If it was just Webelos, or Scouts, we’d still be going. It’d be a good primer for the Cub-O in January! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr.

(note: as cold and windy as it turned out, Shelly is *really* glad we didn’t go!) :-)

Tuesday is the Veteran’s Day program at school. Any scouts in full dress uniform will be able to participate in the flag ceremony at the beginning of the ceremony. Please wear complete uniform to school.

Leaders, read through the books to mark this off. It is a requirement for both Wolves and Bears.

Our family campout will be this weekend, November 15-16. Meet at Fort Richardson at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Full details… Read the rest of this entry »

Wanted to mention a quick shoutout to Ethan for being this year’s grand prize winner of our popcorn sales contest. Ethan completely whooped the other boys by selling $1095 in popcorn. Cole H. was right on his heals with nearly $800. Devon came in third with just over $300. Congrats to all the boys. Your sales will help our pack with much needed funds for camps and equipment.

Way to go guys!!
